Description

Introduction

The Ural 5323 is a tactical truck of Russian origin. It was developed in the late 1980's in the USSR, but series production commenced after the collapse of the USSR in Russia. The Ural 5323 is a direct competitor to the KaMAZ-6350 8x8 truck. Although produced as a standard tactical truck, it is mostly used as a weapon system and shelter carrier.

Layout

The Ural 5323 is an 8x8 tactical truck with 10 t load capacity. It looks very different from the ubiquitous Ural 4320 since it has an 8x8 chassis and forward control cab. Many existing Ural and KaMAZ components are used in the Ural 5323. The diesel engine is mounted below the forward control cab and drives all four axles. The front two axles are steerable. Most vehicles are mounted with a 7 t winch.

Cargo capacity

The Ural 5323 has a 10 t cargo capacity. On roads up to 12 t can be carried. Trailers up to 16 t can be towed on roads. Trailers up to 10 t can be towed in the field.

Mobility

The 8x8 chassis provides good all terrain performance. The 300 hp V8 diesel engine allows for speeds up to 85 km/h on road.

Chassis application

The chassis allows for a wide variety of body types and includes cargo, shelter, tanker and various weapon systems. Notable systems are the Pantsir-S1 SAM system, PP-91 and PP-2005 pontoon systems, KET-L and REM-KL recovery vehicle systems

Users

The Ural 5323 is used by Russian forces alongside various other modern 10 t trucks. These include the KaMAZ-6350 and various BAZ trucks. The Ural 5323 is available for export. It is mostly sold in limited numbers as a weapon system carrier or specialist equipment carrier.
