The H-series is a series of tactical trucks of Hungarian origin. The H-series was developed by Hungarian truckmaker RÁBA in the late 1990's to meet the demands of the Hungarian military. The H-series is externally very similar to the MAN Kat 1 and later SX and HX series of tactical trucks. The designs are unrelated although a lot of MAN components are used and MAN trucks have clearly been a design inspiration.
The H-series comes in three main types that allow for a different gross vehicle weight. The H-14 is a 4x4 design while the H-18 and H-25 use a 6x6 chassis. All members of the H-series have a forward control cab that looks very similar to the cab used on MAN military trucks. This cab design allows for maximum space within space limits regarding train and aircraft transportation. The engine is mounted under the cab and all four or six single wheels are powered. Add on armor for the cab is optional.
The chassis allows for a wide variety of body types and includes cargo, container, tanker and office models. A small crane behind the cab or a pallet or container loading system are optional. The body plus cargo capacity ranges from almost 8 t for the H-14 4x4 truck to 13 t for the H-25 6x6 truck. All models may tow an 8 t trailer under off road conditions.
The H-series has a good road and off road performance. All members of the H-series feature all wheel drive and high quality automotive components. All models are powered by the same EURO 3 compliant 280 hp diesel engine. This results in a limited power to weight ratio in the heavier models. Therefore the H-25.324 with a more powerful EURO 4 diesel engine has been developed.
The H-series is currently only in use with the Hungarian military. All three versions are used with a wide variety of body types. The H-series remains in production and is available for export.
The H14.206 is the smallest variant of the RÁBA H-series. The H14 is based on a 4x4 chassis, is EURO 3 compliant and comes with various body types of which the standard military cargo body is the most common. Most automotive compenents are interchangeable with the other variants in the H-series. The 206 in the designation refers to the 206 kW engine.
The H18.206 is the medium variant of the RÁBA H-series. The H18 is based on a 6x6 chassis, is EURO 3 compliant and comes with various body types of which the standard military cargo body is the most common. Most automotive components are interchangeable with the other variants in the H-series. The 206 in the designation refers to the 206 kW engine.
The H25.206 is the heavy variant of the RÁBA H-series. The H25 is based on a sturdier 6x6 chassis with stonger axles than the H18. The H25 chassis is available with the same wheelbase as the H18 and a 0.7 m longer wheelbase. The H25 is EURO 3 compliant and comes with various body types of tanker and container models are most common. Most automotive components are interchangeable with the other variants in the H-series. The 206 in the designation refers to the 206 kW engine.
The H25.324 is a further development of the H25.206. The H25.324 has a more powerful engine and is EURO 4 compliant. With the increased power it has the strength to match with the sturdier H25 chassis and makes it more suitable for a range of applications.
