Sd.Kfz. 234/1 is a lower cost and easier to produced alternative to the better armed Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma. The Puma was the first vehicle in service based on the new 8 wheel chassis, although the designations imply that the Sd.Kfz. 234/1 was an ealier design.
