The R4 is the South African variant of the Galil AR in 5.56mm. Minor changes have been incorporated and the folding stock is lengthened. A bipod is fitted as standard. The LM4 is a semi-automatic version for law enforcement and civilian use.

The R6 is a local South African development based on the Galil SAR. It has a much shorter barrel, but is not as small as the Galil MAR. The R6 is as short as one can make the Galil without major changes to the gas system. The LM6 is a semi-automatic version for law enforcement and civilian use.
