The T-5000 is a modern bolt-action sniper rifle of Russian origin. The T-5000 is a tactical rifle that stems from the high quality and expensive range of ORSIS varmint, hunting and benchrest bolt-action rifles. With the T-5000 ORSIS hopes to secure military and law enforcement contracts.
The T-5000 is a bolt-action rifle with 2 lug bolt assembly on a glass fiber bedded aluminum frame. Various types of heavy free floating barrels can be fitted. To suit its tactical role the T-5000 is fitted with an adjustable folding stock, rubber pistol grip and large multi-slotted muzzle brake. Normally the T-5000 is fitted with the DH 5-20×56 scope, which is a quantum leap forward in Russian scope design. Often an adjustable bipod and forward accessory rail are fitted.
The T-5000 comes in 7.62x51mm NATO and .338 Lapua Magnum versions. Magazine capacity ranges from 5 to 10 rounds. The effective range is quoted as 1.500 meters for the .338 Lapua model. With match ammunition consistent sub-MOA accuracy can be expected. The large muzzle brake is said to reduce felt recoil by 50 percent.
The T-5000 is used in limited quantities by special law enforcement units in Russia. It is currently being evaluated by the Russian military. The T-5000 series is actively marketed for export sales. Between 5 and 10 nations have adopted the T-5000 in small quantity.

Common variants include:
T-5000 in .308 Winchester with short 508mm barrel
T-5000 in .308 Winchester with long 673mm barrel
T-5000 in .338 Lapua Magnum with 699mm barrel
The T-5000 provides a capability similar to the AWSM often found in service in the West.
The Dragunov SVD is the most common marksman rifle in Russian service. The T-5000 is more accurate at longer range, at the cost of reduced rate of fire.
