The Timberworlf is a modern bolt-action sniper rifle of Canadian origin. It was developed to meet a Canadian demand to replace the older Parker-Hale C3A1 sniper rifles in Canadian service. In Canadian service the Timberwolf is known as the C14.
The Timberwolf is a bolt-action sniper rifle based on earlier civilian target rifles by PGW. A distinct design feature of the Timberwolf is the helical fluted bolt and the helical fluted barrel. The C14 produced for the Canadian forces features a McMillan A5 stock. Current production models feature a metal side folding stock.
The Timberwolf fires the .338 Lapua Magnum from a 5 round detachable box magazine. The effective range requirement of the Canadian forces was 1.2 km. Typical maximum range of a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle is up to 1.5 km. PGW claims a sub 0.75 MOA accuracy.
The Timberwolf was adopted by the Canadian forces as the C14 Medium Range Sniper Weapon System, with over 5.000 to be acquired. Various nations acquired the Timberwolf in small numbers. Most of the foreign users seem to be in the Middle East.
The Timberwolf is a direct competitor to the widely used Arctic Warfare Magnum series of sniper rifles produced in the UK.
The LRT-3 is an up-scaled version of the Timberwolf sniper rifle and is chambered in 12.7x99mm NATO.
