Belgian license production derivative of the Automatic Machine Rifle Model 1925. Introduced in 1930 this version includes a pistol grip that houses a rate-reducing mechanism. Other differences from the Colt Model 1925 include a tripod mounting point and a hinged butt plate.
The Modèle D, also marketed in English as Type D, is a quick change barrel variant of the Mle 30. This model was introduced in 1932 and was also sold when production restarted after World War 2.
Produced in 7.65x53mm, 7x75mm and 7.92x57mm before World War 2.
Produced in .30-06 and 7.92x57mm Mauser after the war.
Variant of the Type D chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. This feeds from FN FAL magazines and was offered alongside the FAL rifle. This was both produced new or offered as a conversion of existing Type D guns in service.
The Mle 30 and Mle D are a further development of the Browning Automatic Rifle. These introduced the slow and rapid rate of fire later incorporated in the US M1918A2.
