The DSR-50 is a modern anti-materiel rifle of German origin. It is an upscaled version of the DSR-1 precision rifle for use as an anti-materiel rifle. It is chambered for the much larger 12.7x99mm NATO round, also known as the .50 BMG.
The DSR-50 retains the overall design of the DSR-1, but has several features to accomodate the heavier round. The thicker and longer barrel is fitted with a large muzzle brake. This does not only reduce the recoil and muzzle flash, but also reduces the sound signature. Optionally, a suppressor can be fitted instead. A hydraulic buffer is located in the buttstock in order to reduce the felt recoil.
The DSR-50 is chambered for the 12.7x99mm NATO round. The single stack magazines holds three rounds. Few performance indicators are available. Probably the DSR-50 performs similar to other top tier anti-materiel rifles.
The DSR-50 is probably in limited use with one or more nations.
The DSR-50 is derived from the DSR-1, which is a precision rifle available in several calibers.
