Ubiquitous naval gun in widespread service since the mid 1960's. Compared to older designs the unmanned turret and 80 rounds ready to fire make it much more capable. An upgrade kit allows for an increased rate of fire of 100 rpm. The round mount can be retrofitted with a low radar signature angular mount.
Deep modernization of the Compatto with improved accuracy and increased rate of fire of 120 rpm. The increased accuracy makes the Super Rapid more effective when intercepting missiles. Although externally similar, the Super Rapid is internally very different. There is a new loading system, reduced weight of recoiling components and faster fuze setting device. The Super Rapid comes in both round housing and low radar signature angular housing.
The same manufacturer also makes a naval gun mount in 127mm that is called the Compatto.
The Sovraponte above deck mounted utilizes many design elements of the Super Rapid naval gun.
